Shares of PacWest and Western Alliance Fall Amid Fears of More Regional Bank Failures

Wall Street regulators halted trading in shares of PacWest and Western Alliance on Thursday after stock prices for the regional banks fell dramatically. The plunge raised new fears about the health of the U.S. banking sector, following the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank in March, and just days after JPMorgan Chase purchased First Republic in a fire sale after it became the second-largest bank to fail in U.S. history.
