The GOP Platform calls for a constitutional amendment declaring that children born in the U.S. to undocumented immigrants should not automatically receive U.S. citizenship. The platform supports similar policies to Proposition 187 that would deny social services and government assistance to immigrants. In San Diego, where the GOP National Convention is currently taking place, immigration is an ever present issue. During the convention, immigrant rights activists are making sure their voices are heard through demonstrations, marches and forums at the border and outside the convention hall.
