Bill King, the white supremacist convicted of dragging James Byrd to his death, heads to death row today in Huntsville, Texas. King is the first white person condemned for killing an African-American in Texas since the 1970’s. King spent his first night as a condemned man in a diagnostic unit in the prison where he will await his execution.
