Leftist lawyer Hugo Gutierrez said Pinochet personally ordered the killings. The military claimed the three victims, along with two soldiers, died when the truck transporting them to an internment camp plunged into a cliff, but Gutierrez said he had proof the government account was not true and that the two soldiers were still alive. Pinochet now faces seventy-eight criminal complaints filed on behalf of those who were killed or disappeared during his dictatorship.
