Hi there,

I believe that people who are concerned about the climate catastrophe, economic and racial justice and war and peace, are not a fringe minority, not even a silent majority, but the silenced majority—silenced by the corporate media. That's why we have to take the media back—especially now. But we can't do it without your support. Thanks to a group of generous donors, all donations made today will be DOUBLED, which means your $15 gift is worth $30. With your contribution, we can continue to go to where the silence is, to bring you the voices of the silenced majority. Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you so much!

AMY GOODMAN: Here in the United States, last night in New Jersey, the Green Party candidate for U.S. Senate was arrested as he tried to enter the television studio where the Democratic and Republican candidates were holding a debate. The Green candidate is Ted Glick. He was barred from participating or even being in the audience during the debate. He joins us on the line.

Ted Glick, can you tell us what happened?

TED GLICK: Actually, there was no audience at all at this debate. It’s a real metaphor for the exclusion of the public, really, from the political process. I attempted to get in to observe the other two candidates, since it was clear they were not going to include me, so that I could then afterwards make comments to the press or anybody else about what I thought about the issues that they didn’t address or the positions that they took that I disagreed with. And because I insisted on that, I was arrested and charged with criminal trespassing. I’m scheduled to go to trial or go to court October 1st.

We are planning future protests at future debates if we continue to be excluded. People can find out more about this ongoing campaign for democracy in New Jersey at our website, which is GlickForSenate.org.
