Patriot Act Author Concerned Over Jose Padilla Detention

Meanwhile the Los Angeles Times is reporting that the chief architect of the USA Patriot Act, Vied Denh, is now questioning the detention of Jose Padilla as an enemy combatant. Padilla has been held in solitary confinement for 18 months without access to a lawyer or the courts. No charges have been filed against Padilla who is a US citizen born in Brooklyn. Former Justice Department official Viet Dinh told the Los Angeles Times the administration’s case for holding Padilla in such a fashion was “unsustainable.”
