Hi there,

The media can be the greatest force for peace on Earth. Instead, all too often, it’s wielded as a weapon of war. That's why we have to take the media back. Thanks to a group of generous donors, all donations made today will be DOUBLED, which means your $15 gift is worth $30. With your contribution, we can continue to go to where the silence is, to bring you the voices of the silenced majority – those calling for peace in a time of war, demanding action on the climate catastrophe and advocating for racial and economic justice. Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you so much!

Bush To Tap Carlyle Group-linked Man To Head Army

HeadlineJul 15, 2004

President Bush is expected to soon nominate a California-man with ties to the defense investment firm Carlyle Group to serve as secretary of the Army, the Army’s most senior civilian post. Francis Harvey, who is the former chief operating officer for a division of defense contractor Westinghouse Electric, now serves on the boards of two Carlyle-affiliated firms. The Carlyle Group has deep ties to the Bush family, former Pentagon leaders and the Saudi royal family. President Bush used to head up a Carlyle-owned business and his father served as an advisor. Osama Bin Laden’s family has been among the Saudi investors who helped Carlyle grow into a major defense investment firm.
