Gov’t: Medicare Faces “Much Worse” Crisis Than Social Security

In Washington, the trustees that oversee the nation’s social security program predicted Wednesday that the program will be go broke in 2041. The Bush administration said the report underscored the urgency of its effort to overhaul Social Security this year. Democrats countered by saying that the report proves that social security is not in an immediate crisis. But the trustees emphasized, that Medicare’s financial outlook was '’much worse than Social Security's.’’ The Medicare fund is expected to run out of money in 15 years.
