Palestinian Authority Denies Israeli Influence over Security Force

In Israel and the Occupied Territories, the Israeli government says it’s authorized a new deployment of 600 Palestinian police officers to the West Bank town of Jenin. Palestinian Authority officials say Israel is not deciding where to base Palestinian forces. Previous involvement of Israel and the US in Palestinian security operations has led to allegations of attempts to widen the Palestinian factional divide and provoke civil war.
