Her backup dancers wore Black Panther-style berets and posed with their fists in the air, recalling the black power salute by Tommie Smith and John Carlos at the 1968 Olympics. Her music video for “Formation” released the day before evoked Hurricane Katrina and police brutality. By the way, the Denver Broncos beat the Carolina Panthers at the Super Bowl, 24 to 10.
