The indigenous leader has long organized against illegal logging and deforestation in the Sierra Madre Mountains. Decades ago, his father was also murdered after leading mass protests against illegal logging in their family’s ancestral lands. This is Baldenegro López, who won the prestigious Goldman Prize in 2005.
