Secretary-General António Guterres said climate change is “a matter of life and death” for many nations and that the worst polluters are not doing enough to meet the goals of the 2015 Paris climate agreement. This came just one day after Trump stood as the sole leader at the G20 summit who did not sign on to a statement reaffirming support for the Paris agreement. Last year, Trump announced the U.S.’s withdrawal from the international agreement.
