Hi there,

This month, Democracy Now! marks 29 years of fearless independent journalism. Presidents have come, gone and come back again, but Democracy Now! remains, playing the same critical role in our democracy: shining a spotlight on corporate and government abuses of power and raising up the voices of scholars, advocates, scientists, activists, artists and ordinary people working for a more peaceful and just world. If our journalism is important to you, please donate today in honor of our 29th anniversary. Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you so much.

Youngest Separated Migrant Was 4-Month-Old Baby

HeadlineJun 17, 2019

A new report by The New York Times has revealed the youngest child to be ripped from their family after migrating to the U.S. via the southern border was a 4-month-old baby. The child, Constantin Mutu, was taken by U.S. officials under Trump’s “zero-tolerance” family separation policy and put in a foster home. His father was put in an immigrant prison before being deported to his native Romania. Constantin has since been reunited with his parents and has displayed signs of emotional and developmental issues. His parents say he is not walking or talking at 20 months.
