Hi there,

This month, Democracy Now! marks 29 years of fearless independent journalism. Presidents have come, gone and come back again, but Democracy Now! remains, playing the same critical role in our democracy: shining a spotlight on corporate and government abuses of power and raising up the voices of scholars, advocates, scientists, activists, artists and ordinary people working for a more peaceful and just world. If our journalism is important to you, please donate today in honor of our 29th anniversary. Every dollar makes a difference. Thank you so much.

Trump Suggests Antifa Shares Equal Blame for Deadly Violence

HeadlineAug 08, 2019

Ahead of his trips to Dayton and El Paso, President Trump sought Wednesday to lay equal blame for deadly violence on white supremacists and the anti-fascist movement known as “antifa.”

President Donald Trump: “I am concerned about the rise of any group of hate. I don’t like it. Any group of hate, I am — whether it’s white supremacy, whether it’s any other kind of supremacy, whether it’s antifa, whether it’s any group of hate, I am very concerned about it, and I’ll do something about it.”
