On Wednesday, a group of 20 people in Edmonton, Alberta, erected a blockade of a Canadian National Railway line, temporarily blocking train traffic in the latest protest against the Coastal GasLink. Similar blockades have paralyzed rail traffic throughout parts of Canada over the last two weeks. The protests sprang up in solidarity with the Wet’suwet’en First Nation, which is opposed to the pipeline and to TC Energy’s infringement on their sovereign territory, backed by federal police.
