A corrections officer and the father of the late Valeria “Munique” Tachiquin, who was was killed by a U.S. Border Patrol agent on September 28 in broad daylight in a residential area several miles north of the Mexico border in California. Valeria was a U.S. citizen and mother of five children, the youngest of whom is four years old. The agent who killed Valeria reportedly had a history of misconduct in his previous career as a sheriff’s deputy in California but was still hired by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
