Mitt Romney’s campaign has reportedly removed an endorsement from a Tennessee congressmember from its website after it was revealed the pro-life legislator had an extramarital affair with a patient and then pressured the woman to get an abortion. According to a transcript of a 2000 phone call obtained by the Huffington Post, Rep. Scott DesJarlais told his partner: “You told me you’d have an abortion, and now we’re getting too far along without one.” DesJarlais was backed by the tea party and has co-sponsored anti-abortion legislation, including a bill that would give 14th Amendment protections to each “preborn human person.” A Romney endorsement from DesJarlais posted in the spring was removed from Romney’s website Thursday after a reporter asked about it.
