The U.S. Navy has suspended a deputy commander as part of a widening corruption probe involving top officers and a longtime Pentagon contractor. Captain David Haas of Coastal Riverine Group 1 is the sixth senior officer to be linked to wrongdoing by the firm Glenn Defense Marine Asia. The company’s executive, Leonard Glenn Francis, is accused of bribing Navy officials with money, gifts and sex workers to win government contracts. Glenn Defense Marine Asia has won hundreds of millions of dollars in contracts to oversee port visits and security during Navy stops at foreign harbors.
